You will have to remove some parts which are in the way in the engine bay to get to the back of the headlamp unit
I had a Citroen C4 and had massive difficulty changing bulbs. Look for any plastic coverings that can be removed to help access. They normally clip off easily. You then have to reach inside to unclip the bulb holder.

It's really a super easy project. I'd suggest getting a specific Toyota manual for your car. Pick up a Haynes or Chilton's repair manual from NAPA, Carquest, Auto Zone or Advance Auto for step by step instructions. Your public library may have one of the two manuals or better yet a Motors Manual. The entire plastic headlight bucket can be removed without changing the aiming adjustment. Then the plastic headlight has been removed it's easy to change the bulb or the plastic aiming bucket.



All you need is a few metric sockets, short 3/8 extensions and a 3/8 ratchet.

The driver side low beam is best accessed by removing the battery.



It is a real pain if you have large hands, if you have little hands it will still be uncomfortable, but much easier.

Buy the correct headlight bulb replacement.



1. Turn off your headlights if it's not already off.

2. Open your hood, and pull the wire harness behind the headlight.

3. Pull and slip out the rubber cover seal.

4. Reach in and unlatch the clip that holds the bulb socket.

5. Remove the bulb socket and replace the old bulb with your new bulb replacement.



Work your way backwards and return the bulb socket, relatch the clip, return the rubber cover seal, and reconnect the wire harness.

Its in ur manual. Turn engine off and turn the wheel all the way to right for you left light. Right under the fender remove the plastic using a flat head screwdriver and you can easily reach up and take out the light bulb, but make sure u dont touch the bulb itself. For the right light turn ur wheel all the way to left and do the same thing u did on the right. U dont have to take out the battery or anything. Just remove the plastic carefully under the fender with a flat head. Dont break the clips tho. Dont belive me? Look it up in your manual.

I just did this. The low beams take 9006, the high beams are 9005. On the Drivers Side -- Loosen the battery anchor bolts to move the battery an inch and pull up the coolant overflow bottle (no tools on the bottle, battery takes 10mm deep socket). Change either or both bulbs that way. Bulbs have clip connectors (squeeze to remove) and a 1/4 turn retaining ring. Lefty loosey, Righty tighty.



The passenger side is another story. You can change the high beam easily by just reaching for it from above. The anti lock brake module is in the way of reaching the low beam from above -- do not attempt to remove it(anti lock brake module). Remove the Two most forward speed clips on the plastic inner fender on the passenger side at the fender lip. Pull back and reach up to change the Low Beam Bulb. Having a person as a %26quot;spotter%26quot; from above will help immensely.



Do not touch the %26quot;glass%26quot; on the new bulb. Your skin oil will cause a hot spot and blow the new bulb.



This is hardly a beginner job (passenger side). Your dealer will probably replace the bulb for you, at no cost if you bring a new bulb to the shop. Ours where I live does this service at no charge.



EDIT: Obviously Helper has never changed a bulb on a new style Civic.

High beams/day light running lights are one set of bulbs, and the low beams are another.



Depending on how thin your arms are, the lights are accessable from underneath the hood; however, on the right side, you'll have to slide the coolent container out of the way. Otherwise, you will have to take your wheels off and access the lights through the wheel well.



Once you get access to the light area, you gotta twist on the harness, then it should pop out, then you can replace the bulbs.

Insert new 9007 headlamp capsule, being sure to not touch the glass with your fingers. If it is contaminated, clean with alcohol. A fingerprint will create a hot-spot and crack the glass.

When you re-install the lamp, be sure to fully seat the lamp. The o-ring will have some resistance.

Re-install the lock ring

Plug in the plug.

Who knows how to reset the indicator light for the high beams after changing the headlight bulbs on a Hummer H3? It reads backwards. When the headlights are in low beam mode, the high beam indicator is on, and vice-versa.

I think maybe you plugged in the bulbs backwards try taking them back out and plugging the prongs into the opposite slots just sounds like you have the filiments reversed.

Hmmm, you may have put the high beams in the low beam spots or vice versa. Not sure though.

You can look where your headlight cover is and see where the screws are...it's really easy. The screws will be deep in the headlight cover, so u have to get a sort of long screwdriver to open it. Once you get the headlight cover off, you just pull the bulb out and replace it, but do not force the headlight cover off or you could crack it...other than that you can go online and look it up or buy a Hanes manual at any local car parts store. I have a 1993 Toyota Camry and it's really easy to change the headlight.

I have a 1979 Ford Thunderbird, changed headlight switch, no park lights?

I acquired the car over a year ago after it sat in a sage brush patch for nearly 12 years.....The past year i have got it running, and was able to take it on a few spins down the street, but the question i am having is that i have no power to the park lights...I replaced the switch with a NOS piece because the old one was messed up, headlights would work, but would go out.....obvious a bad switch plus i had no park lights and no dash lights, The new one fixed the headlight dilemma, but i still have no power to the park lights or side markers.....The best i have got out of the park lights was the driver side would buen barely and flash when the 4 ways were activated but other than that, i have had not much luck.....Is there a fusible link or fuse hidden inline somewhere im not seeing, I cant seem to find a spot on the fuse block for the associated park lamps....Can anyone with wiring help me with this ordeal....any help at all would be of great use and appreciation

o-k.These parking lamps If I recall correctly have a self grounding socket in the parking lamp.More than likely the sockets are corroded and not making proper ground.

I suggest you buy new parking lamp Assemblies or call around to junk yards out west in Arizona or down in California were corrosion isn't as much of an issue and see if they may have a set or can get you some.



A way to check this is to take the parking lamps out and on a clean spot somewhere on the parking lamp housing touch a piece of wire to it and the other end to something metal on the vehicle while the headlamps are on.If they light up then there is your issue.

Sometimes ford and Gm both put fuses for multiple things onto one fuse circuit.I know in one of my older ford trucks I used to have the horn,dome light and parking lamps were all on the same fuse even though all those were not listed.And even if it has a fuse for one of the above by itself doesn't mean it still don't tie into another fuse to work something else.Just get a test light from auto parts store and test all fuses under the dash board.check with vehicle ignition in on position with vehicle not running and lights off.Power to lights still is there as long as key is in on position.

I have seen some newer cars where you have to remove the entire headlight assembly, but not very many. Follow these instructions: Go from under the hood. You may have to remove the battery or some other component. There should be a black or grey retainer ring holding the bulb in. Twist that ring counterclockwise, unplug the socket and pull out the bulb.Reverse the order to put in the new bulb. DO NOT touch the glass on the new bulb. This halogen bulb gets very hot when it lites up and the natural oils in your skin will create hot spots on the bulb and cause it to burn out alot quicker and you will be doing it again. If all else fails...go to Advance Auto Parts. They will replace most bulbs and at no cost to you except for the price of the bulb.

you access the headlights by first removing the rubber dust covers. they are easily accessible on the drivers side but access on the passenger side is blocked by the air intake and filter housing cover. Remove these components to gain better access. Unplug the electrical connectors. Both high beam and low beam halogens lamps are held in the headlamp housings with spring wire retaining clips. Depress these retainers and pivot away to allow for bulb removal. Installation is the reverse of removal..... of course (:

Note : the best thing anyone can do even if you do not plan on doing any major repairs is to purchase a basic maintenance and repair maunual published by haynes etc.

For less then twenty dollars you will gain so much in the operation and find many tasks can be done very easily. It will pay for itself in far less then one garage visit.

are u talking about the bulb or the whole headlight assembly if its just the bulb there should be a black ring on the back of the head that unscrews and then the bulb just pulls out. if your talking about the whole head light assembly. the first thing u have to do is remove the piece of black plastic that covers the head lights and the grill. 2nd remove the grill from the front of the truck. then depending on what side of the truck your replacing the headlight u have to remove the battery or the windshield washer bucket. once this is done there are four bolts that hold the headlight assembly onto the front of the truck 2 are on the front of the truck underneath where the grill was. and then there are 2 more on the inside where the fender meets the radiator support. remove these four bolts and the headlight assembly will come out then just unplug the head light and the turning signal and the headlight is completely out
