Changing headlights on 2000 Jeep Cherokee sport?

My headlights don't illuminate anything and it makes me nervous driving in unfamiliar areas in the dark. I joke about having my friend with nice bright xenon headlights to drive behind me and light up the road ahead...

I want to install new headlights, something that will be a lot brighter and safer. What are my options? Is it as simple as replacing the bulb or will the entire headlamp need to be swapped out? Any information would be a great help! Thanks!!

The simplest thing will be to just replace the bulb. Depending on the bulb number it is as simple as turning the bulb and pulling out.

Normally there will be about 4 or 5 options for brightness level. The bluish tint lights will not be the brightest but will be brighter then stock. One of the brightest stock replacements will be the Sylvania Silverstar or Silverstar ultras. running about 37.99 or 49.99 a pair respectively.

Wolfyss answer is completely wrong. 2000 Jeep Cherokees have sealed beam units. You CAN'T just replace the bulb.

Don't answer if you have no idea what you are talking about or too lazy to do a research (took 10 seconds for me to Goog it) before responding

BTW, Silverstars only last ~200 hours.

Jeep Cherokees are sealed beams. Meaning you can not replace just the bulb as stated above. There are silver stars as mentioned earlier made for a jeep or maybe just some new bulbs will do the trick. Also check your wiring behind them. IF the connectors are corroded that could lead to dim lights. There are two screws holding each one on. You can remove them and then unplug the lamp. Plug the new one in and put the trim ring and two screws back. Make sure you aim them.
I have had great results in my Cherokee with these...

Brand: WAGNER

Model: Tru-Vue

Don't fall for the blue tinted fake H.I.D. look, it was marketed for childrens %26quot;fart car%26quot; crowd to be cool looking...

The most important thing is aiming the lamps. Find a deserted area, put the headlights on HIGH beam, block one lamp and adjust the other to shine directly straight forward then reverse and do the other side. You may not get it just right the first time, so experiment.
