I have a 2000 BMW 323i

I just changed it myself and it's relatively easy. Look for the gray part and twist it counterclockwise. Don't twist the light bulbs or the wires but almost the whole thing. It should come out easy. Be careful taking it out if it was recently on because it's going to be hot. If it's broken then never mind it and wiggle it out. Insert the new headlight bulbs but don't touch the glass because you will decrease the life of the bulb. Make sure you don't lose the rubber seal on the way in because that'll get some water in possibly burning it out or fogging up the headlight hence decreasing visibility. You should be good to go.

You need to open your hood. and behind each headlight, you'll find either, a cover that you'll have to twist off to get to the headlights, or, you'll find the bulbs right away. you'll have to twist the bulbs out once you get to it, and pull them out, and then unhook it from the plug. and replace them. You can buy bulbs for like $10 at any car accessory store, Pepboys, Autozone, CAP, NAPA, etc..
